Kiwi is a plant from the group of dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous flowering plants in the order of khangsanan and kiwian order. This plant is native to South China and the national fruit of the People's Republic of China. Its fruit is egg-shaped, the size of a large egg (5-8 cm long and 4.5-5.5 cm wide), and its skin is brown and its flesh is green.

Description

Originally, it was a native plant in southern China. Then, at the beginning of the 20th century, it was taken to New Zealand where it was cultivated commercially. The name of this plant is derived from the name of a beautiful bird that was the national bird in New Zealand and was given to this fruit in the sixties (kiwi bird).

The grafting of this fruit after growing for about a week becomes a seedling and can be cut. This method is one of the most common methods of planting kiwi seedlings in the world, especially in China. China is one of the largest exporters of transplanted seedlings of this fruit.

In Iran, in 1347 solar year, the first kiwi seedling was imported and planted from France in the village of Sar Faqih Abad, Nishtarud section of Tankabon Mazandaran city, due to the hard work of Dr. Mohammad Amin Albarzi and with the wish of cheapness and availability for the people of Iran. In Iran, this fruit is currently cultivated in the three provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan on the edge of the Caspian Sea, and its cultivation area increases every year.

Today, kiwi fruit is one of Iran's export products. According to ISNA news agency, Mazandaran province (Tankabon and Nishtarud) was recognized as the center of production of this fruit in Iran with the annual production of more than 110,000 tons of kiwi. In 2013, Gilan province (Tales and its suburbs) was recognized as the second producer of this product with an annual production of more than 70,000 tons of kiwi. According to the Jihad of Agriculture of Dawalesh city, in 2014 solar year, 63 thousand tons of Golden Hayward Kiwi were harvested from two thousand two hundred and fifty thousand hectares of cultivated gardens.
