Description

Eggplant is a delicate, stable and tropical plant that is often planted as a sensitive and semi-resistant annual plant in temperate regions. The stem is often spiny. Eggplant flower is white to purple and has five petals and yellow stamens. The egg-shaped, shiny and purple fruit has white flesh and fleshy texture. When cutting an eggplant, the cut surface turns brown quickly. The plant grows to a height of 40 to 150 cm.

It has large, rough and jagged leaves that are 10 to 20 cm long and 5 to 10 cm wide. Semi-wild eggplants can grow up to 225 cm, and their leaves can reach more than 30 cm in length and 15 cm in width. In wild plants, the eggplant is less than 3 cm in diameter, but in domesticated and cultivated varieties, the length of the fruit is much larger, up to 30 cm or more. Eggplant is placed between sets in terms of botanical classification. This plant has many small soft seeds, which despite being edible are bitter because they contain nicotine alkaloid like tobacco.
